1. Japanese Tatami for Modern Living
"MITOKO" creates white space.
A new modular tatami mat that designs space.
The name "MITOKO" comes from the character "Gosho no tatami" (floor mat), which was used by Emperor Shomu during the Nara period and is considered the oldest tatami mat.
"MITOKO" is a minimalist tatami mat designed for modern homes. Simply place it under your mattress or futon to create a relaxing, traditional Japanese sleeping space.
2. What is Tatami?
Tatami is a traditional Japanese flooring made from woven rush or paper fibers.
For centuries, tatami has been used in Japanese homes as a natural and comfortable surface for sitting, sleeping, and living.
Our modern tatami mats are designed for today’s lifestyle — lightweight, durable, and perfect for use under a mattress or futon.
3. Why We Created This Tatami
Modern homes often lack the calm simplicity of traditional Japanese interiors.
We designed this tatami mat to bring a piece of Japanese living into contemporary spaces —
simple, natural, and beautifully minimal.
Place it on the floor, add a mattress, and transform any room into a serene Japanese sleeping space.
4. How to Use
Our tatami mats are designed to be versatile.
